1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the services provided by Sefr Accounting ("we," "our," or "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our services. These Terms apply to all clients, visitors, and users of our website and services.

2. Services Provided

Sefr Accounting provides the following professional services:

  • Bookkeeping and financial record maintenance
  • Payroll services and remittances
  • Sales tax (HST/GST) filing and compliance
  • Annual corporate return filing (T2)
  • Personal tax return preparation and filing (T1)
  • Tax planning and consultation
  • Financial reporting and analysis

All services are provided in accordance with Canadian accounting standards and tax regulations.

3. Client Responsibilities

As a client, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, complete, and timely financial information and documentation
  • Respond promptly to requests for additional information or clarification
  • Maintain proper records and documentation as required by the CRA
  • Review and approve all filings before submission to regulatory authorities
  • Pay for services according to the agreed-upon fee structure and payment terms
  • Notify us immediately of any changes to your business structure or contact information
  • Comply with all applicable tax laws and regulations

4. Professional Standards and Limitations

Our services are provided in accordance with:

  • Canadian accounting standards and best practices
  • CRA regulations and requirements
  • Professional ethical standards
  • Applicable provincial and federal legislation

We do not provide legal advice. For legal matters, we recommend consulting with a qualified attorney.

5. Fees and Payment

Payment terms:

  • Fees are based on the scope of services agreed upon in the engagement letter
  • Payment is due within 30 days of invoice date unless otherwise agreed
  • Late payments may incur interest charges at a rate of 2% per month
  • We reserve the right to suspend services for non-payment
  • Fees do not include CRA penalties, interest, or government filing fees

All fees are quoted in Canadian dollars (CAD) and are subject to applicable taxes.

6. Confidentiality

We maintain strict confidentiality of all client information in accordance with professional standards and applicable privacy legislation. We will not disclose your information to third parties except:

  • As required by law or regulatory authorities
  • With your explicit written consent
  • To service providers bound by confidentiality agreements
  • In response to legal process or court orders

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • Our liability is limited to the fees paid for the specific service in question
  • We are not liable for consequential, indirect, or special damages
  • We are not responsible for penalties or interest resulting from incomplete or inaccurate information provided by you
  • You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your failure to provide accurate information

We maintain professional liability insurance to protect both our firm and our clients.

8. Document Retention

We retain client documents and records in accordance with CRA requirements (minimum 6 years). After this period, we may destroy records unless you make arrangements to collect them. Electronic copies may be retained for longer periods.

9. Termination of Services

Either party may terminate services with written notice:

  • You may terminate at any time with 30 days written notice
  • We may terminate immediately for non-payment or breach of these Terms
  • Upon termination, you remain responsible for fees for services rendered
  • We will provide copies of your records upon request (fees may apply)

10. Intellectual Property

All materials, methodologies, templates, and tools we use to provide services remain our intellectual property. You receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use reports and deliverables we provide for your business purposes only.

11. Dispute Resolution

In the event of a dispute, we agree to first attempt resolution through good-faith negotiation. If negotiations fail, disputes will be resolved through mediation or arbitration in Ottawa, Ontario, in accordance with Ontario law.

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated to active clients via email. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any legal action must be brought in the courts of Ottawa, Ontario.
